In the digital age A-sides and B-sides are no longer real categories, but the concept as such is not dead. Whereas the A-song of a vinyl record was meant to become a hit, the B-song pressed on the other side had the reputation to be a throwaway. In reality these flipsides often showed the most revealing work of the artists: they promised surprises, offered musicians space to experiment and occasionally became hits in their own right. SALOON asked Brussels based artists to show their B-sides – a hidden gem, a work with a different story or a history of its own.
